Hair Loss Treatment

A dermatologist can help you understand the cause of your hair loss and recommend a treatment approach.부산탈모치료

Most hair loss is caused by hormones. Some types of hormonal hair loss are permanent, such as androgenetic alopecia (male or female pattern baldness).

Other causes of temporary or permanent hair loss include side effects of medications — particularly those for high blood pressure, heart problems, depression or gout — cancer chemotherapy, and some scalp conditions including seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis and trichotillomania (compulsive pulling of the scalp). Hair loss can also occur due to injury or radiation to the head from medical procedures such as surgery or radiotherapy.

A few different treatments are available to slow the progression of alopecia and stimulate partial or complete hair regrowth. Non-surgical treatments include lotions and tablets, all of which need to be used continuously for the benefits to continue. A newer, more effective method uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections that use a concentrated portion of your own blood. This procedure is quick and comfortable, but it can take a few months to see results.

There are also a variety of surgical hair restoration techniques, such as hair transplants. These involve removing hair-bearing skin, typically from the back of your scalp where it is less likely to fall out, and transferring it to areas that are thinning or bald. Hair transplants are usually performed under local anesthesia and can be done in a doctor’s office, although some patients may require sedation. Surgical hair restoration is generally not covered by insurance.

Some other types of hair loss can be treated with corticosteroid medicines. These suppress the immune system, which can mistakenly attack healthy parts of the body, including your hair follicles. Corticosteroid medicines can be given as a topical solution or in injections, and they need to be prescribed by a dermatologist.

There is no cure for some kinds of hair loss, such as alopecia areata or alopecia totalis, but if you begin treatment early on, it is possible to stop the loss and even encourage some regrowth. In general, the key to treating all forms of hair loss is to start treatment as soon as you notice it so that the lost follicles have time to regenerate before they die.

There are many products available that claim to make your hair grow faster, but most of these are bogus. Besides being expensive, most of these products haven’t been proven to work, and some could interfere with any prescription medications you might be taking. The best thing you can do to help keep your hair is to protect it from damage by covering it with a hat or scarf when going outdoors, and using sunscreen when you do. Also, avoid over-processing your hair with heat from curlers and flat irons, which can damage the follicles.청담모바로의원
